Incoming exchange students were provided with information about the event before they planned their trip to Finland so they could take part in it. Overall, around 80 exchange students, were greeted and guided during the three days long event, to start their journey in Saimaa UAS and in Finland.
The purpose of the event was to greet new incoming exchange students right away once they arrived to the station of their destination city, and to make their accommodation more comfortable right from the start. At both locations tutors, welcome team members and staff of Student Union and Saimaa UAS were present, providing a warm welcome to Finland.
During the event, students got information about cities, starting studies, local environment, transportation, incoming student events and accommodation. Some of the students had also reserved an accommodation beforehand and got their apartment keys once they arrived. Handy! (Not to forget the sweets!)
The event was a success and it got good feedback from the arriving students. Most of the students had not visited Finland before at all, so meeting and greeting them with proper Finnish hospitality was a great way to arrive to a totally new environment.
